Veronica How's dream wedding dress was brought to life by none other than her best friend and inspired by Princess Grace of Monaco's own dress.

Of all the many weddings we have covered, none saw so much spontaneity as that of Joe Heng and Veronica How’s.

Unlike the typical wedding, they improvised a vow-exchanging ceremony right before their dinner banquet so everyone could be witness to their union.

The couple’s combined fun and easy-going nature shone brightly through when Veronica was walked into the room by her father in a figure-hugging mermaid dress that was heavily inspired by the wedding dress of Princess Grace of Monaco.

“As a little girl, my dream dress was like those you see in Cinderella! Luckily I have grown out of it and it was Princess Grace’s dress that I fell in love with,” she tells.

My Best Friend’s Design

What makes Veronica’s dress truly meaningful was who made it.

"My dress is made by my best friend, Charmaine Sin, who is a freelance designer. I knew her dresses will be up to my expectation. What’s better is that she was honest and transparent with me throughout the whole process, from sketching my dream dress to the actual making of it. The end product: perfection!"

Inspired By a Real Princess

Due to her petite frame, she steered away from big gowns .

"It’s always been a dream to walk down the aisle with the long flowy dress but I don’t think I can carry off a big dress as I am quite short. It was long-sleeved as Princess Grace’s dress had long sleeves and I thought it was so timeless; I can never get bored looking at it. I got the inspiration from her dress and Charmaine helped me realise that dream into my version of an elegant yet modern and sexy dress."

Hand-sewn Perfection

Every detail on the dress was made with deliberation, whether to accentuate her figure or make her look taller.

"I love the fully beaded Chantilly Lace top that was fully hand-beaded by a few tailors, and Charmaine herself. Certain parts were made to look as though there are patches of flowers on the dress, highlighted by Swarovski crystals and pearls. Also, the back of the dress is shaped like a heart and there are buttons that run down all the way from my neck to my lower back to make me look taller."
