Datin Usha Nair, Lim Wei-Ling and Lim May Shen  reflect on their lucky moments, revealing the shining beacons that are their personal lucky charms, quite like the iconic Perlée and Alhambra.

Pose someone a question on luck, and chances are you’ll receive an intriguing mix of reactions. But the answers that come forth can paint quite a colourful picture, one dotted with very personal and precious anecdotes – in this case, as expressed by three charming ladies from very different walks of life. They are Datin Usha NairLim Wei-Ling and Lim May Shen.

Leading a bon vivant lifestyle is Datin Usha Nair, the general manager of a private investment company. The enigmatic lady leads a  jet-setting lifestyle, dividing her travel itinerary between her family and art collection.

Polished art connoisseur Lim Wei-Ling is a prominent face in high society, and is regularly sought after for her intellectually envigorating tête-à-têtes.

Bubbly and effortlessly chic, Lim May Shen has enjoyed a headstart in the entrepreneur scene, having co-founded The Nail Parlour chain 10 years ago.

Through all their differences, luck is the common thread that has gilded and shaped the high points of their lives – much like the Van Cleef & Arpels pieces that twinkle from their features. Luck has always been a signature trait of the Maison’s high jewellery tradition, embodied through iconic collections Perlée and Alhambra.

Graphic and embellished with delicate golden beads, the Perlée has been honed to perfection since the 1920s. Likewise, the Alhambra, a celebrated collection since 1968, is an interplay of versatile, precious talismans that have guided women day after day.

Each lady points to the intrinsic connection of luck and time, express the different shapes and forms of their lucky charms, and the transformative power luck has over life’s biggest occasions.
