Cover Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph 60th Anniversary Edition

Carrera fans, listen up! This will be the last time you will see the Carrera in its current form

In 1963, a new chronograph was born and it would go on to be one of the most classic wrist chronographs beloved for its legibility and elegant profile. The Carrera, which means "race" in Spanish, was named after a Porsche car. This Tag Heuer timepiece has been sported on race car drivers and celebrities from Mick Jagger to Ryan Gosling.

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Tag Heuer has reinterpreted the Heuer Carrera 2447 SN with its panda dial [silver dial with black chronograph counters] and polished steel case measuring 39mm. The vintage Heuer logo is prominently displayed at 12 o'clock. The perforated calfskin strap completes the look.

Powered by the automatic Calibre Heuer 02, this will be the last time that the Carrera will appear in this form as there will be a new design moving forward, making this limited-to-600-pieces watch an instant collectible.

In an interview at LVMH Watch Week 2023 in Singapore where the watch is revealed, CEO Frédéric Arnault enthuses about the opportunity to celebrate Carrera's 60th anniversary this year. He adds that it wasn't easy to settle on the final design for this anniversary edition. "Purists will always say it's not the same because they want the original, but no matter what we do it will not be the original. And for the rest of our clients, they don't want it to be too similar with the original. It was definitely not an easy exercise," he says.

"The 60th anniversary edition is still an iconic design but imbued with the latest quality standards and techniques, and I think that's where the appeal comes from. It's also the last piece we'll do with this case because we'll be releasing a new case that takes the modernisation a step further."
