A new Seamaster marks Omega's 31st time as the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games

The next Olympic Games will be held from July 26-August 11, 2024 in Paris. Exactly a year before the anticipated sporting event, Omega launched the Countdown Clock at Port de la Bourdonnais beneath the Eiffel Tower to track the hours, minites, and seconds until the opening ceremony on July 26.

Omega CEO and president Raynald Aeschlimann activated the clock together with Thomas Bach, the president of the International Olympic Committee, and Tony Estanguet, the president of Paris 2024. Estanguet, a former Olympic canoeist, said: “As an athlete, the final year before the Games is crucial for your preparation, I remember it as if it was yesterday. Whether you are an athlete or a sports enthusiast, with one year to go, the emotions start to build and all you can think about is the Games.”

Bach is enthused to have Omega back for the 31st time as the Olympics’ official timekeeper. “For over 90 years, Omega has ensured the accurate recording of the athletes’ results so they can be written into Olympic History,” he said.

The Games will be hosted for the third time in the French capital city, having previously hosted in 1900 and 1924.

“With the Olympic Games, we always feel the energy and excitement when there’s one year to go. The athletes start dreaming, and of course, our timekeepers start to finalise their preparations. I’m certain that Paris 2024 will be an event to remember.”

The Countdown Clock was launched together with the Seamaster Diver 300M “Paris 2024” Special Edition that has been created as a special tribute to the 33rd Olympic Games. The 42mm stainless steel timepiece with 18k Moonshine Gold bezel features a ceramic dial that has been laser-engraved with a wave pattern. The numerals in the date counter appear in the Paris 2024 typography while the seconds hand has been incorporated with the Paris 2024 emblem.

Distinguishing it further as an Olympic watch are the 18k Moonshine Gold medallion with the Paris 2024 emblem and the stamped Olympic rings on the caseback. It comes with a steel bracelet fitted with the Quick Change System that allows one to easily replace the bracelet with a rubber strap (in blue, white or red) or a Paris 2024 Nato strap.
