The world's first minute repeater with sapphire gong is further refined with input from two musicians

The L.U.C watch celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Since the beginning, this gentleman's wristwatch has acted as Chopard's go-to canvas for its mechanical breakthroughs, from its first in-house developed movement calibre 1.96 with twin barrels to technically sophisticated chronographs like the L.U.C Chrono One.

To mark the anniversary, Chopard has released three new variations of the L.U.C Full Strike, which won the Aiguille d’Or at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie De Genève in 2017.

Distinguished by its sapphire crystal gong, the first minute repeater to have this feature, the sound it produces has been lauded for being unusually rich and clear. Despite the accolades, it didn't satisfy the family-owned manufacture, which led to the sound being further refined with the help of cellist and violinist Gautier and Renaud Capuçon this year.

By drawing on the musicians' artistic sensitivity, Chopard adds an emotional resonance to the chiming watches. The result is a sound that is purer, longer and more harmonious. Have a listen to the new sound in the video below.
