1. The man behind the brand
Tom Ford honed his fashion chops at the prestigious Parson’s School of Design and The American College in Paris, and landed headfirst into fashion designing at Gucci, circa 1990. He went from chief womenswear designer to creative director, and in 2003, his visionary style was credited for the brand's record-breaking 3-billion dollars in sales. While there, the sleek multitasker doubled as creative director and chief designer of Yves Saint Laurent in 1999.
In 2005, Tom dropped his eponymous fashion brand, followed by a beauty and eyewear collection and his first flagship store in New York. Presently, there are 124 freestanding Tom Ford stores worldwide throughout fashion capitals. Tom’s achievements have earned him numerous accolades, including 7 awards from the Council of Fashion Designer of America.
