Animal print is set to make a big comeback in fall/winter 2016-2017 ready-to-wear collections, and beauty brands are keen for a slice of the action. Yves Saint Laurent is leading the way with a limited-edition version of its "Black Opium" fragrance which brings an animal-inspired finish to the iconic bottle.

From Sonia Rykiel, Kenzo and Givenchy to Christian Dior, Blumarine and Roberto Cavalli, a host of designers and fashion labels have used animal prints in their fall/winter 2016-2017 ready-to-wear collections. Dior, for example, presented a leopard-print coat, Kenzo finished certain collars in tiger-print fur, Sonia Rykiel picked a python motif and Givenchy went for both python and panther patterns.

Although the trend was only seen in small touches in the eighties-inspired Saint Laurent fall/winter 2016 collection, the panther print effects paved the way for this limited-edition "Black Opium" bottle.

The thrill of the chase

YSL's "Black Opium Wild Edition" is a collector's edition of the classic scent. Aimed at passionate women who aren't afraid to show their animal instinct, it captures a feline, sensual spirit with a wild side that makes all the difference.

The collectable bottle is finished with a glittery camouflage effect through which the coffee-colored scent can still be seen. The box also gets a glittery animal print motif, evoking a sparkling faux fur coat, as well as stylish rose gold edging.

"Black Opium Wild Edition" opens with notes of coffee, matched with white flower, vanilla, cedar and patchouli aromas.

For something a little more mysterious, the Black Opium Nuit Blanche hits the spot.
