Maybe it's because we're geared towards a healthier lifestyle these days or maybe it's just due to the impending FIFA World Cup - whatever it is, sports has been one of the major topics hanging on everyone's lips as of late.

When we think about sportswear, it usually involves clothing that is too comfortable and requires little to no styling effort. It reminds us of post gym or lazy Sunday grocery shopping outfits that we'd rather not be seen in public with.

However, thanks to the brilliant minds at work in the biggest and hottest fashion labels, sports inspired fashion has never looked better. Now you can look good even on your laziest and sloppiest days.

In the recent spring/summer 2014 runway shows, Alexander Wang did a rendition of sportswear based on the all-time favourite martial art - boxing - where he reconstructed the boxing shorts into a incredible daywear look paired with symmetrical white top.

In the house of Gucci, Frida Giannini launched a series of metallic jumpsuits worn with swimwear inside, which are perfect for competitve swimming or casual beach trips. Over in London, Mary Katrantzou incorporated sports sneakers into her digital printed dresses and shoes for an edgy evening cocktail look.

Football socks were the main sports theme in Prada where ribbed cotton incorporated into its knee length socks and jersey dresses to mimick the varsity look.
