Why You Should Try Nespresso's First Organic Coffee From The Reviving Origins Programme

Nespresso's Reviving Origins programme aims to revitalise coffee production in regions facing challenges

Translating into 'Hope of Congo', KAHAWA ya CONGO is the first organic blend in Nespresso's Reviving Origins programme, which was first launched in 2019 with the aim to enable coffee production in adversely affected regions. Grown on volcanic, rain-rich soils of Lake Kivu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, production of the blend assists in revitalising coffee farming in the area.

We’re helping the farmers of Kivu to restore Congolese coffee to its full glory and rebuild their livelihoods, while bringing vital social support to enhance the welfare of the communities behind our KAHAWA ya CONGO coffee.

Alongside other parties, such as TechnoServe, USAID and Virunga Coffee, Nespresso is currently working with over 2,500 farmers in Kivu; the programme is expected to reach 8,000 farmers by 2026, promoting sustainable farming while improving coffee quality and yield.

I see my remaining days being better than those in the past, because I am going to work, and I am starting to see the results of my work, as I am receiving regular pay and a bonus each time after coffee sales.

Lake Kivu’s soils provide the ideal environment for growing speciality Arabicas, resulting in a sweet and fruity seasonal blend. With the addition of milk, a cup of coffee made with KAHAWA ya CONGO is sweet and silky, with biscuity and nutty fragrances. To bring out the full body of the blend, the beans are split roast (a technique that improves taste).

Alongside KAHAWA ya CONGO, Nespresso is also reintroducing three other Reviving Origins coffees:
