We revealed the 30 Malaysia honourees on the Gen.T List 2019 at an official unveiling event in the city

Kuala Lumpur was the sixth city to host an unveiling event for the Gen.T List 2019. We revealed the list in stages, with events across Asia over a number of weeks. After Taipei, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Manila and Singapore we unveiled the 30 Malaysia honourees on our list of 400 young leaders shaping Asia's future at a dinner and afterparty at W Kuala Lumpur.

The dinner was attended by members of the Tatler Tribe, the panel of industry heavyweights we consult to select the list, as well as the 2019 honourees. Tribe members at the dinner included Malaysia's first astrophysicist, Datuk Mazlan OthmanAzran Osman Rani, founder and CEO of med-tech startup Naluri; and Lee Jim Leng, group managing director and CEO of Hong Leong Investment Bank.

Guests were joined by previous Gen.T honourees and the wider community for the afterparty and official public unveiling of the list. Popular Malaysian singer-songwriter Shila Amzah, a 2019 honouree, gave a guest performance as the Gen.T List was revealed for the first time.

At the event, we spoke to 2019 honourees Renard Siew, Climate Reality Leader at Sime Darby, and filmmaker Indrani Kopal about the power of community. Tribe member Hartini Zainudin—founder of Yayasan Chow Kit, Gen.T's CSR partner in Malaysia—spoke of her hopes for this generation. Watch the video to see what they had to say.
