For movie buffs
If you are a fan of plush leather seats and spacious legroom when watching a movie, then you need to get a private home cinema like the one inside the Carré d'Art villa. Along with its luxurious seats, the room also features state-of-the-art audio visual technology that rivals a screening in your local theatres.

The all-black interior is accented with dark wooden floors for a sleek and modern finish, while dimmed spotlights fill the ceiling to emulate the starry skies of an outdoors cinema. Throw in your very own snack bar with free flow of treats and drinks, you'll have the perfect movie experience without ever stepping out of the house.

For literature addicts
If you are a fan of books and refuse to jump on the ‘e-book’ bandwagon, then a home library is the room to have. However, forget about the classic Old English libraries and think of a minimalistic library in the attic like this space designed by Neville Johnson.

After picking up a book from the floor-to-ceiling bookshelf, choose between the lounge or mezzanine level to cosy up for a good read. If you are a budding writer, there is also a wooden desk by the window where you can bask in warm sunlight while penning down your thoughts.

For music lovers
Another way to utilise the attic is with a music room for sound hounds to play their tunes all day long. Here, Joe Fallon designed the room using a stone brick house attic where the walls add a rustic contrast to the polished mordern furnishings like the red couch and shellac flooring.

Novelty pieces like the wooden barrel, vintage posters and mini cable car are also added to help you and your friends relive your college band days when producing great music for house parties and 'open mic' nights were all that mattered.

For suave connoisseurs
The 1920s inspired speakeasy bars are the new trending topic in KL and if you love with concept, then make your own swanky hidden bar in the basement like this lounge designed by Lucy Call. The overall theme is created based on the elements of the 20s with brown leather jackets, dim lights and faded furnishing.

Rusted metal chairs with soft leather cushions are screwed into the grey-cemented floors, while modern appliances like refrigerators are disguised between battered walls as an old wooden cabinet. Finally, in its centre lies a billiards table for a game while enjoying a tipple or two.

For gaming geeks
Every person has a little geeky side in them and the 80s and 90s babies, arcade games are something very close to heart. These were the popular entertaintment consoles before computers took over with eleborate online games and 3D features.

ALH Home Renovations designed this arcade room for retro game lovers to relive that moment in time. Walls are decorated with quirky prints like tropical rainforests and war zones to immerse the players in games like Time Crisis or Zombie Hunters. If you need a break from the retro, there is a corner where you can find modern consoles for games like Command and Conquer or Need For Speed.
