What To Know. About Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's New Netflix Show
The much-awaited announcement is here: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have released new details on their first project after signing with Netflix. The couple, who've said that they wanted to produce content that "informs but also gives hope", have recently spoken on their first project, which will centre around the Invictus Games. Here's what you need to know about it:
1/5 The Invictus Games was founded by Prince Harry
For those who didn't know, the Invictus Games was founded in 2014 by Prince Harry himself. It is an international sporting event that caters specifically to servicemen and women who have been injured or have an illness. The word "invictus" itself means "unconquered", and its namesake event was brought about after the Duke of Sussex saw firsthand how sports can help those suffering from illness or injury.
2/5 The next Games is set to take place in 2022 and 2023
The next event are set to be held in the springtime of 2022 at The Hague. The exact date is yet to be confirmed, although organisers have said that Jaguar Land Rover will be sponsoring the event. There will be 500 competitors from over 20 nations participating.
In June 2023, the sixth installation of the Invictus Games will be held in Düsseldorf.
3/5 The Invictus Games was inspired by an American sporting event
Though the Invictus Games Foundation is UK-based, the sporting event itself was first inspired by the American Warrior Games. In 2013, Prince Harry flew to Colorado to witness the Warrior Games and was inspired by its camaraderie and sportsmanship.

4/5 There are adaptive sports
Adaptive sports follow the traditional rules of the game it follows, however it is also modified in some way to make it inclusive for those who have disabilities. For example, the Invictus Games allows its players to participate in activities such as sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby.
5/5 Countries around the world are included
The Invictus Games isn't just open to European countries. Players from Afghanistan, Australia, Canada, Iraq, Estonia, and New Zealand have all been welcomed. According to the Invictus Games Foundation, new participating nations are selected according to certain criteria. They've also said that the current criteria are under review, which means more countries may be able to join soon.
