Asia's Most Stylish - Society 2015 magazine

Eight glamorous women jetted off to the Park Hyatt Beijing for a weekend of photo shoots for our annual Asia’s Most Stylish feature.

Following our first part of Asia's Most Stylish, where we featured four ladies – Meera Sen (Malaysia), Olivia Lee-Davies (Hong Kong), Felicia Atienza (Philippines) and Jiang Zaozao (China) – we now look at the other four ladies who made the list.

Chic was the word on everyone’s lips when these eight elegant women gathered in Beijing for our annual style extravaganza – Asia's Most Stylish. Chosen by the Tatler editors in each region, they represent the pinnacle of taste and refinement – and are renowned for their extensive wardrobes.

Unsurprisingly, the women arrived on set clutching trunks packed to the brim with designer dresses, vertiginous heels and glittering jewels. With beautiful women in couture as our focus and the five-star Park Hyatt Beijing and its views of the city as our backdrop, the shoot was guaranteed to be a memorable one.

Tirawan Taechaubol, Thailand
A typical working day for Tirawan Taechaubol often includes jumping on a private plane and flying off to a far-flung part of Thailand. This jetsetting career is thanks to Cape and Kantary Hotels, the five-star hotel group with 21 resorts around the country that her family owns. “Often it’s just a day trip for me,” she says with a modest smile.

“I used to stay for longer but now that I have a baby, I always want to rush back to Bangkok—although I think I should start bringing my husband and son with me so we can spend our weekends on the islands.”

Today, Taechaubol does most of her shopping in London, even when she’s sipping cocktails on a beach in Thailand.

Ira Kwa, Indonesia
Ira Kwa was supposed to be a banker. She studied finance at university and her family assumed she would follow them into the wonderful world of numbers.

“When I first told my parents my plan to open a store, my mother said no, because she believed there was no future in fashion in Jakarta. In New York or Paris, things would have been different, but she was worried I would never be able to work in my own country,” says Kwa.

Luckily for the fashionable women of Indonesia, Kwa proved all the naysayers wrong. Today she’s the owner of Jade Boutique, Jakarta’s most prestigious clothing shop.

Emily Wang, Taiwan
As a celebrated former singer and actress in her native Taiwan, Emily Wang is accustomed to being in the public eye—and to being admired for her sleek, sophisticated sense of style.

She bade farewell to the world of entertainment when she met her husband 22 years ago, but a love of fashion was formed in those early showbiz days, when every day brought a new set of designer clothes.

Wang is a fan of European designers—Dior, Valentino and Lanvin in particular—but she maintains a very Taiwanese aesthetic. “I like simple elegance. I don’t like anything too complicated or showy because feeling comfortable is essential,” she says.

Tan Min-Li, Singapore
Tan Min-Li is the managing partner at top law firm Colin Ng & Partners and is undoubtedly one of the most stylish businesswomen in Singapore. With a meticulous eye for designer suits, vertiginous heels, vintage dresses and luxury bags, she has the kind of wardrobe—and career—most people can only dream of.

“I would say that there are many facets to me,” she says. “And although it’s not the first thing that would jump to mind, my love of fashion and style is a facet that I am proud of, particularly since I’m in a job that demands I dress very conservatively.”

Tan travels constantly for work and her wardrobe is filled with an eclectic mix of couture from all over the world.
