Chopard And Marion Cotillard's Ice Cube Jewellery Collection
French actress Marion Cotillard is also an environmentalist, which is why she enjoys her close working relationship with Chopard and its artistic director Caroline Scheufele who personally oversaw the launch of the brand's Journey to Sustainable Luxury campaign in 2013. As part of its fulfilment of the campaign, 100 per cent of its watches and jewellery are made of sustainable Fairmined gold since last year.
Inspired by Chopard's environmental and socially responsible commitment. Cottilard came up with the idea of creating a capsule collection that would embody her style and passion for sustainable jewellery.
"Chopard has accompanied me since my debut as an actress and I share Scheufele’s commitment to ethics, so this new collaboration is a great way to strengthen the ties between us," says Cotillard.
Inspired by unconventional geometry and rock 'n roll spirit, the Ice Cube collection by Marion Cotillard features jewellery made in ethical Fairmined-certified 18k yellow gold and diamonds sourced from suppliers who are members of the Responsible Jewellery Council.
With help from the Chopard Haute Joaillerie atelier, Cottilard reimagines the Ice Cube's graphic alignment of small faceted cubes as a ring and seven earrings. The earrings are different but complementary, each embellished with a princess-cut solitaire square diamond. They come with clips, as Cotillard doesn't have pierced ears. The ring is actually composed of two rings connected by a princess cut diamond.
"True luxury depends on knowing the origin of our products," Scheufele asserts. "We know that the (sustainable) project is ambitious and that much remains to be done. Rome was not built in a day. But we have to start somewhere to improve the whole industry.”
