Omar Khan, Andrew Wong and Malisse Tan are leaving 2020 stronger, more hopeful, and armed with an optimistic outlook for the New Year

As 2020 draws to an end, many are breathing a sigh of relief and hope for a bright new start in the year 2021. We turn the spotlight on three industrious individuals who remind us that there's plenty to be grateful for—and that there's still time to mark 2020 in more meaningful ways.

The highlights of 2020 for me were...

During lockdown: binge watching the entire series of Schitt’s Creek and not leaving my room. Never had that kind of guilt-free luxury before!

What I'm most grateful for in 2020 is...

That my family and friends are very much alive, healthy and keeping our collective spirits up despite the pandemic.

What I've learnt about myself this year is...

That I have a deeper reservoir of energy than I thought. It's not just the energy to do things, but also to keep things positive and fun for me and my team at work.

A habit that I don't want to carry over to 2021 is...

Giving myself excuses not to go to the gym, and telling myself I have other pressing matters when having a good sweat is the best remedy for stress.

How I plan to make the most of what's left of 2020...

I read somewhere that one should never waste a crisis. It is the perfect time to change things around. I made some organisational and structural changes at work which will, hopefully, position us better to move forward.

The highlights of 2020 for me were...

The pandemic forced me to slow down a little and carved more time for me to spend with my daughter, which has been priceless. Bobble was also able to continue despite the many challenges the business faced and has been a big learning journey for me as an entrepreneur.

What I'm most grateful for in 2020 is...

That I still have my health and was able to conceive my second child. For the past three years, I've lived with the small fear that I would not be able to conceive due to the chemo I had to go through in 2017.

What I've learnt about myself this year is...

That it's OK not to be able to do everything well. I discovered I'm not as good at home-schooling my daughter, but thankfully my husband is.

A habit that I don't want to carry over to 2021 is...

Sleeping late! I have the tendency to get carried away working at night and have become more of a night owl than an early bird, so I'd like to change that.

How I plan to make the most of what's left of 2020...

I'd like to bring myself to a state of mental calmness (because my mind is always whirring) and to do some simple relaxing favourites before entering into a new phase of life as a mother to a newborn and another busy year ahead. Perhaps a staycation with my family with some room service for dinner, a nice long bath and watching a good movie... uninterrupted, of course.

The highlights of 2020 for me were...

Our rugs became available in the most amazing multi-label furniture stores, Moie in Jakarta and House of Wang in China.  I was on the cover of Tatler Malaysia's September 2020 issue. My rug was also featured in the December issue of Architectural Digest, which has been a personal goal of mine since I launched the company. Last but not least,  I started my freshman year as a lululemon ambassador and ran the lululemaon SeaWheeze virtual half marathon

What I'm most grateful for in 2020 is...

First and foremost, my health and my family's health. I'm especially grateful for the time I had with my parents during lockdown. It was rare that we could have every meal together.

What I've learnt about myself this year is...

That I'm stronger than I think I am. I learnt a lot about myself as I was training for the marathon. I learnt about not giving up. I learnt to let go of a lot things. Running is funny like that. You have to leave all your crap at the start because if you don’t, you will never get to the finishing line.

A habit that I don't want to carry over to 2021 is...

Procrastination?

How I plan to make the most of what's left of 2020...

Most likely with a run with my crew from the unit. I know we would all like to end with a certain mileage clocked in on our running apps.
